Entry: What a weekend! May 31, 2004

First housekeeping...

Meg, thanks for the offer of the care package but it take up to a month for things to get here and then you have to pay tax on based on the weight.  So...thank you for thinking of me, but why donīt you hold off on the package.

Joe, I donīt recall you teaching me how to cook.  Oh wait - is deep frying everything cooking?  You will love my new recipes!

Manual,  regarding the picture...just remember that what goes around comes around and that I donīt get mad I get even.  Further, I have several weeks to think up my retaliation.  Be afraid, be very afraid!

Mom, glad to hear that the bathroom is coming right along.  I look forward to seeing it!  Equally pleased to hear that you are doing well.  Keep it up!

Miss Universe,  there is a very slight chance that we may attend the festivities.  I wonīt know for sure until tomorrow and it is a VERY SLIGHT chance.  If I go, I will post all the details later this week.

Now this weekend...

We went to a small town in the mountains, visited a butterfly farm and white water rafted.  It was a blast.  We hadnīt planned on doing the rafting thing so we just went in our clothes.  Rafting here consistes of several intertubes tied together with twine. It was an adventure and at times was glad my life insurance was paid up because I thought Joe and the kids might be able to cash in on it.

Later that day we went to the equator.  It was cool.  Took pictures and walked around.  There is a whole īvillageīthere with shops, etc.  I called home from there and that was pretty cool too.

Sunday we went to an art museum which is the home of artwork from a famous ecuadorian artist.  I bought a few things (Joe donīt worry - nothing expensive) and we went back to the equator for the celebrations that they were having there that day.  We meet some people from Houston and had dinner with them, then we went on to a casino.  I did pretty well and went home that night $150 richer.

I am exhausted today and ready to get back to school and work.  I am understanding more and more each day.  There is a lot of chatter about the upcoming protest and change of leadership of the government.  It seems that there may be a small koo brewing.  I will keep you posted as to the developments.  Please keep me in your prayers especially over the next 2 weeks.

Talk to you all again later this week.  Take care and god bless.
Amy

Joe - I guess my last posting did sound a bit like a democrat, whinning and complaining, but given the recent financial strains I have expereinced, I think my I might try to work on the grant thing.

Randy how do you stand the inter city life??? maybe you should apply for a grant from the gov. to help with the stress of the intercity life oh on second thought that would make you a democrate nevermind. The hillbilly contruction crew had a long weekend we tryed to work on the frount porch and the back mornings the back evenings the frount its better for naps in the shade

Chris, I was at my inner city townhouse the night of the Miss Universe Pagent. Unfortunately, one of the numerous trains and the mail delivery truck arrived at that crucial moment when the winner was crowned. The noise level from the train and mail truck was so loud that I could not hear the T.V. Due to the noise level was was safely tucked away in the bathtub with a thick quilt as cover. The noise level and vibration of the train was causing the plaster to fall from the walls and ceiling. And I could not see the T.V. from the bath tub. But, after some research I discovered that Amy is competing in the Miss University Pagent. Contestants are required to possess beauty and brains!!! Sources tell me that Amy's essay question ask her to discuss Ecuadorian monetary policy, current inflation rates, consumer confidence pre and post Amy and the required recovery time for the local economy and cost of merchant bankruptcy bailouts post Amy, once she returns to the states with the family plastic.

OK, I am in Napa on business and watching the Miss Universe Contest. Amy's hair has not only gotten blonder but she has grown several inches as well! I am glad that so many are adding their comments, makes me wish we had all started web sites a long time ago. I imagine I could get just about everybody in the family mad at me over one comment or another given enough time. The only wise thing I can think of to say today is that it is a good thing Kevin wasn't in Hottsdale right before Christmas---on the other hand it would probably save Eric some time in figuring how to pack the Sequoia Sleigh for the travel to SO CA. Love to you all, that even includes all of the Misery Folks.

wow!a koo....what does one wear to this event....maybe it matters who's side you are on..........it's the stilletto heels vs the flip flops. If it's still happeneing the week after next I can join you since I have a week off from the Draino the inject into me. Since the h2o is in short supply I'd vote for whoever can get you water pressure and heat!! What's with the butterflys? Don't they have a very short life, like 10 days???? I think drugs would be a more profitable crop but what do I know! wHAT DID YOU BUY at the art show and who is the famous artist? Speaking of which i JUST GOT THE RESULTS OF THE MONEY Raised by the art at the Cancer Center Fashion Show and my picture was the top money maker...........can't beat the sympathy vote!!!!!!!!!! By the way about the money you won, was it their money or real money.. When I'm in a foreign country I always think it's just playmoney.....so much easier to spend that way!!! Sounds like you are having a great time and I'm so happy you get to do this. Kudos to Joe for holding down the fort while you are gone. Tallk to you soon. love you lots.xxoom

Hey Lady - Your good spirits amaze me - still no good shower - It wouldn't fly with me. It is memorial day and we are all working on projects around the house and for pwqa. Kevin returns home tonight. I think the only problem in AZ was him telling Hannah that there is no tooth fairy - it was only her 2nd tooth. Meg set him straight. Oh my - hate thinking that Kevin is the Jenny Goodman of the family. Everyone is good - when do you come back to america? Take care -

I am thinking that maybe the reason these south american countries are so poor is they have invested all their money in butterfly farms? There can't possibly be much profit in raising them.
Oh swell, a change in government and Amy just happens to be there! I don't think prayer is going to help much to be honest. I just hope she gets a chance to see EVITA before she gets in too deep.

White water rafting/wet t-shirt contest...lovely. Sounds like you're having fun. I will hold off and send you a care package once you're back to the Ponderosa. Just for the record, it is something you will enjoy...not payback for those lovely maracas...the gift that keeps on giving. In the future, if you send maracas again, please enclose a large bottle of vodka. Muchas Gracias, Senora! We all know how much you LOVE politics and how fun it must be that you are understanding more, but please keep a tight lip. We don't want to hear about the Coup de Amy. Sending lots of hugs, kisses and prayers south baby.
Meg
