Sorry it took so long to write. Things have been really busy and with the move to the new school there is no internet place close. That being said here is my update since my last posting on Saturday... Sunday was an awesome day. I spent it with two other students (more my age) from school. We went to the open air market, for shopping of course! Then off to the Panecilla which over looks the entire city - took lots of great pictures and then had a super dinner and great conversations with new friends that share similiar interests. Monday was a bit of a challenge getting to the new school. We take two different buses and walk a bit father but it will be fine. This is a temporary situation for me so there is no use complaining about it! Monday afternoon at the school where I taught was a different story. The kids were aweful, rude, distruptive and the teachers did nothing. Needless to say, childbirth without pain medication was more enjoyable that Monday afternoon. I spoke to the director of the school and I am not going back. Instead I am spending the rest of my afternoons at the orphange. Tuesday at the orphanage I taught the girls how to play uno (we decided to blow off our homework and just play) They really enjoyed it. Maybe today we will play for money! Later that afternoon we went to the park closeby and played some basketball. I do not think I can make much of a team out of them before I leave but they enjoyed a game of horse and so did I. Later that night I met up with some kids from school at TGI Fridays to watch the playoff game between the Lakers and the Pistons. I was the only person in the bar that wanted the Lakers to win, and since they did...it was a great night for me. Anyway, I most likely will not write again until after the weekend. I am going to a small town called Banos for the weekend. They have thermal volcanic hot springs there. I am looking for to the travel although the 4 hour bus ride is not really appealing. I do think I will be able to squeeze in a massage and facial while there and that is really appealing! I have enjoyed all of your comments. I really miss everyone and am anxious to be back in the states. It is nice to know that I have less than two weeks left here. School is very difficult this week and very frustrating, but I am not giving up!
Talk to you all soon. Amy |
| mlatplay June 11, 2004 02:50 PM PDT Hi Honey, Glad to hear you found some kids your own age to play with. The younger ones can be a pain. Sounds like a move back to the orphanage is better than the school. Glad to know that they are learning to play cards and gamble in the best American tradition. Lucky you to see the Laker game. Hope you won some money on it. Tell Lot Boy and his Gang of Merry Men that it's the Pistoffs not the Pistons. Obviously, none of them has ever seen Detroit or they would never root for that team. I know you're upset with our latest news. But, I assure you I will be fine. Please do not rush home early on my account. I wish I could say something to ease your mind, but I feel very confident that we will beat this back again. This round of chemo has been a walk in the park compared to the other two. I think we have the drugs figured out this time. The 'roid rage' is under control and I haven't thrown up in anybody's car. It may that my Bitch, Megan is doing such a fine job! I have a handy dandy portable barf bag that could double as a Shaq size condom. Anyway, things are moving along here. So, please ease your mind. I also understand how hard this is for you being away and I want you to be comfortable and I will support whatever desicion you make. Maybe it would be easier if the entire family (that means everyone) moved into the Ponderosa with you. We could have 'height & warmth' and bodies all over the place. Think of all the 'real' decorating help Joe and the guys could get. Martha on roids...they may deserve me! You've gotten so far in your trip and have just a little more to go and I will be here and in good shape when you come. Hang in there. I will too. Love you, Miss you, and will see you when I see you. | Manuel June 10, 2004 07:28 AM PDT Rude, disruptive children? Thought you were in Ecuador, not Marionville. Glad you don't have to go back though. Glad you were able to find some other senior citizens to hang out with. Randy, sounds like Amy's having an impact on the children. But if they wanted someone to teach children to drink and gamble, shouldn't we have went? Enjoy the hot springs and massage. Sounds like fun. Do you have to bring your own soap? I know it's been a while since you last had a bath. OK, just so you know. At the ponderosa we cheer for the PISTONS. Meg, look on the bright side you could be with Amy and have to deal with open air markets, shopping, volcanic hot springs and massages. Have a good week Amy | ||

| Meg June 9, 2004 10:00 PM PDT Sholom Sissy and everyone else too! I am off to OC in the morning to spend some time with Mom and her posse. She's had some work done on the house and needs help getting things put back to normal. I get to be her bitch for 12 days. She says she's waited 30 years for that. Good thing she has a great sense of humor. I'm glad to hear you're doing well. Hang in there. You'll be home before you know it! Lots of Love, Meg | ||
